LOVE, PERFECTION & WEDDINGS ON A BUDGET
Spring has sprung, the daffodils are out and the lambs nearby are bouncing about the place. And so begins another season of meeting a lot of people from all walks of life and getting to know a few of them very well. Weddings on a budget is what I want to give you some tips on today, to help you make the most of this beautiful summer.
Flaxes Retreat is relatively new in the wedding venue business and in a short time we have learnt some very important things about the process of planning a wedding so, this being our first blog I have decided to try and pass on some pearls of wisdom.
The most important question you should be asking yourselves before planning anything is ‘What is important to us?’
And so begins your very first list. If that is at the top of every list you make hopefully you can keep everything in perspective and not succumb to the trappings of self imposed pressure.
We are all striving for happiness and it is all we really want for each other…so do exactly what suits you as a couple and what makes you happy.
The most memorable weddings are the ones where the emotion and happiness are almost palpable and leave not too many dry eyes on the day. [including mine]
You don’t need to spend your life savings. You need to focus on the important details and fortunately times have changed and weddings don’t have a rule book.
Things to Consider to Lower Your Wedding Cost
Flowers or not? You might have someone in your life who would feel privileged to help with some small bouquets. We even have several specimen trees here that we are happy to have plucked for some small table vases.
Getting the caterers in or doing your own food prep? Or even asking everyone to contribute? With Flaxes offering accommodation we often see couples asking their staying guests to bring a food contribution for a shared brunch for the day after. Pig on a spit, cold meat and salads and even asking Uncle John to help on one of our BBQs. Maybe your local Home & School committee could be roped into helping with serving or clean up as a fundraiser.
Professional photographer? Or that niece who did photography at High School last year.
Professional hair and makeup? Or your best friend who always manages to look beautiful and knows you so well.
If you have a budget, stick to it, work around it and don’t be afraid to delegate and invite others to actively participate in helping before and on the Big Day.
We have seen all types of weddings, from big budgets to do- it- yourself-ers and at the end of the day it still comes down to that one question…What is important to you?
Having weddings on a budget gives you more time and money to spend on the rest of your amazing life together.
