Nature, weddings & no fuss.
All things outdoor weddings and keeping your guests busy and happy…
…Weather…
At Flaxes we have several favored spots along “our” river for the ceremony. They just have the right vibe and balance with nature. There is also an undercover option although we are yet to use this. The grey skies have moved aside to reveal a beautiful blue sky and sunshine for every single ceremony thus far..hope I havn’t jinxed it!
I call it “our” river because we really feel like the custodians of our little stretch of water,.. observing the Heron, Shag and other frequent visitors every other day.
...Not just standing around…
From the time guests arrive they have the grounds to explore and that is 2 hectares of grassland, picnic tables, trees and riverside. The river to walk along, fish and eels to spot [and yes they our pets], and children can run around freely making them more able to cope with the sitting and formal aspects of the wedding day. Bigger kids can even try our huge tree swing. Last weekend Sarah and Matt hosted their beautiful and relaxed wedding here and their families stayed in our cabins. On the morning of the wedding day and the day after, everyone was involved, volleyball net was up, family cricket enjoyed and our kayaks got to see some action.
That awkward time you have to allow for while having the photo shoot is made easier for your guests by being able to roam and have space to explore and mingle in.
…To decorate or not..
Cut flowers are not as necessary when you are surrounded by wild flowers, lovely shade trees and birdsong.
We are currently exploring different ideas for adding special touches and today was spent hanging colorful paper lanterns from our Willow tree, a favorite ceremony spot. Note to self..have someone hold the ladder.
